The
National Mediation Conference Organising Committee is now calling for
abstracts to be presented the 10th National Mediation Conference in
Adelaide South Australia on the 7th - 9th September 2010. The theme of the
conference is New Frontiers; Celebrating the Past, Embracing the
Present and Creating the Future and the committee is keen to provide
an exciting program that is innovative and challenging and ultimately a
great experience. Therefore the committee seeks to encourage abstracts
that explore:

Novel,
innovative and challenging concepts and theories that broaden the
practice of mediation
-
Practical
mediation and facilitation skills particularly those drawn from
alternative methods, theories and disciplines
-
The
nexus between theory and practice
-
Mediation
in the international arena- knowledge and skill sets drawn from
mediating geo political and high conflict international disputes
-
Mediation
and its connection to peace building and peace making.
-
Drawing
lessons from traditional conflict resolution models within indigenous
communities
-
Designing
architecture for managing and facilitating conflict resolution within
organisations, alliances and workplaces using a dispute systems
design, conflict systems management or project allianceing
perspective.
-
The
social sciences and their impact on mediation practice, theory and
culture.
-
Social
sciences and the law - strengthening the relationship through
collaboration within the profession of mediation
-
The
retired judge and senior counsel mediation culture.
-
High
dollar value and complex commercial mediations and the place of the
generalist mediator with high level expertise in mediation
skills.
-
Judges
and tribunal members and the dual roles of mediating and determining
the matter.
-
Mediation
as a compulsory step in the pre-litigation process.
-
The
Family Court of Australia and the Federal Magistrates Court. The
challenges of embracing mediation and less adversarial litigation.
-
The
role and relevance of mediators in the practice of collaborative
law
Mediation
has expanded into many fields beyond the traditional family law,
community, industrial and commercial areas. The committee is seeking
abstracts from a wide range of professionals that critically examine the
challenges and opportunities and the theoretical implications for
mediation in their fields and in all fields of practice both traditional

abstract button to submit your abstract on-line. The
receipt of all abstracts will be acknowledged and you will be
allocated an identification number.
Authors
of accepted abstracts will be required to prepare a full
paper.

Presenter
Registration |
Presenters will be required to fund their travel,
accommodation and registration costs. At least one author per
paper must register and pay for the Conference. Papers with no registered author maybe be withdrawn.

National
Mediation Conference Conference Scholarship 2010
The
Conference Director’s instituted a scholarship for the Perth Conference
of 2008. The Scholarship, which is entirely funded from the proceeds
generated from conference revenue is up to $10,000 and also provides an
opportunity for the winner to address the conference. This prize is
focussed on development of thinking in ADR. To understand the criteria and
