We
are delighted that in 2008 Adelaide will be hosting the Australasian
Telecommunication Networks and Applications Conference for the
first time. The theme for the conference, Information Networking -
Enhancing Change in the Global Community, emphasises the role that
telecommunications can, and should, play in building a better
world.
Networking
has advanced rapidly over recent years with tremendous advances in
speed in wireless and wired technologies. Use of the internet has
evolved from passive reception of information to active creation of
content. Education and medicine are being delivered at a distance,
improving the opportunities and well-being of people in remote
communities. There still remain, however, significant challenges
ahead, especially in areas such as security, privacy, services to
remote areas, and seamless connectivity across wireless
technologies.
On
behalf of the Organising Committee, we invite you to join us at
ATNAC 2008 to explore and create the future of
telecommunications.
Researchers,
technologists and management will meet to discuss new ideas and
debate future trends in information networking in a stimulating and
informal environment. ATNAC 2008 will be held at the National
Wine Centre of Australia in
Adelaide, where you will also be able to learn about the art of wine
making (and wine tasting!). The National Wine Centre is just a short
stroll from the Adelaide's acclaimed restaurant and night life, and
only a one and a half hour drive from Australia's premiere
winemaking districts in the Barossa Valley and McLaren Vale.
We
look forward to seeing you at ATNAC 2008.
