It is with great pleasure that we invite you to the 5th Australasian Newborn Hearing Screening Conference - Adelaide 21-23 May 2009.

 

The Conference is hosted by the Children, Youth and Women's Health Service and will be held at the S.A Department of Education and Children's Services', Education Development Centre at Hindmarsh, a 10 minute drive from the centre of Adelaide. 

 

Themes 

 

The main objective of the conference is to promote discussion on the development of national standards for newborn hearing screening and early intervention in Australia, including the potential for national data collection and sharing. 

 

A second strand will focus on Auditory Neuropathy and the implications of this condition for newborn hearing screening practices. Given these strands, it is with pleasure that we announce that the featured speakers for the conference will be : Professor Adrian Davis MSc PhD FFPH FSS FRSA OBE, Director MRC Hearing and Communication Group, University of Manchester, UK and Associate Professor Gary Rance PhD MSc BEd Dip Aud MAudSA(CC) Coordinator of Paediatric Audiology The University of Melbourne & Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, Australia.

 

Other broad areas in which presentations/workshops are encouraged include: 

  • Ensuring equity of access, and 

  • Engaging parents of children with hearing impairment in the diagnostic process and intervention.
